Bonnie Blue

Background:

Bonnie Blue always seemed to be a quite little filly, obedient and always looking to please her parents and school teachers. However, she also has a big imagination, and as her parents soon discovered, a wild hair that went with it, quite literally! Though she never got into any real trouble per-se, she was always searching for things and ways to make the world a more interesting and beautiful place. On occasion though, some of the things she tried were… a little unnerving to some.

Unlike most larger villages, winters were there to stay through their season. Thus, as Spring rolled around she glistened with joy as flowers began to bloom. Using her magic, she picked and arranged petals in decorative works of art. But flowers were few, and she only took a few petals, leaving no flower bare. One night, she wandered on the shore of a nearby stream where she could find the most flowers, wondering what her special talent could possibly be. Looking at her reflection in the water, she noticed it suddenly moving faster. She then heard the water roar toward her and recalled the annual flash flood caused by hill snow-melt. Without a chance to run, she was swept away.

The next morning, she opened her eyes to the most beautiful sight she had ever seen. A field of bluebonnets beaming their tinge as far as the eye can see. She wasn’t sure whether she was dead or alive, but she used her magic on a scale never thought possible, making works of art in the sky that could be seen for miles. Her parents quickly found her, and to her surprise, were well beyond pleased. Wondering why, they pointed to her flank. She had finally discovered her special talent.
