Father's Day Gift

This was my Father’s Day gift. I rebuilt the doors of our shed the Friday before Father’s Day! (He bought the wood much earlier but never had the time to start on them other than replace the 2x4 on top.) Together, him and I removed the old doors, mounted the side 2x4 boards with reinforcement, and mounted the doors on Saturday.

The old doors were poorly constructed as they used untreated wood and nails. If that wasn’t bad enough, the nails were nailed in from the 2x4 side into the plywood giving little to no hold or support. My dad had to reinforce each 2x4 end years earlier with bolts.

The new doors are made of treated wood and stainless steel screws that were screwed in from the plywood side into the 2x4 boards on the outside. Not only does this actually give it support, but also rain won’t have any screw holes to drip into since the screw heads are facing the inside. This will help the longevity of the wood (probably by a marginal amount, but still ). Plus, they look nice without a bunch of screw holes!
