Description

So, plushie update! :w00t: I’ve spent about three weeks working on the mare pattern and am finally starting to feel satisfied. :) But is it good enough? :O

Update: The height is 324 mm or 12.75 in. Made of ultra cuddle.

What’s What

The first one is my first iteration with my own pattern. The back legs needed wire to stay together and I had to sew the neck back so it could barely hold itself up without tipping over (a tail will have to fix that).

In the second “revision” I changed fabric orientation of the under-body piece, so I needed to make corrections for the third to get the body shape back. But it didn’t need wire and has weight in the hoofs (as does the third). The head is actually pretty ugly when seen from the front, but at least it’s the right size. Initially the neck looked too skinny and long so I ripped the head off and sewed it back on a little lower on the neck. (The small head next to it was the first I made for it! :XD:)

Before doing my third body, I thought I’d get the head right with the “keep it simple” method. So I made 4 heads with no ears in one day using red (since I only need it for Rainbow Dash’s mane and tail later).

The third is the one I’m most happy with so far. I sewed an eye outline to make sure that embroidery world work properly. I think once the mane and tail are in place that everything else will work rather nicely. However, I think I’ll go back one iteration (the red head next to it) on the nose because it seems slightly too pointed to me. But what does everyone else think?

Criticism Wanted

What does everyone think, is my mare pattern ready, or should something be changed? I know there are people out there more experienced than me at this, so please be honest. Am I ready for the next step in developing mane and tail patterns (not to mention corresponding embroidery files) while only making minor pattern tweaks here and there?

Other Thoughts

There’s one thing I have to say about plush making. Despite the trouble and seam ripping, after it’s sewn together, turning it inside out feels like you’re giving birth to something so cute! :aww:

Also, I don’t think people give the durability of ultra cuddle enough credit.

I know this is a odd question, but when I was in the testing stage of my plushies I never took pictures of them. Because of that I am unable to put a picture of my own on a slide for my Art of the Plush panel.
This is a really good example of testing a pattern and tweaking and then testing again. Do you mind if I use it? And of course you will be given credit for it on that slide.
