Queen Chrysalis Quilt Square by adamlhumphreys Queen Chrysalis Quilt Square by adamlhumphreys

:iconchrysalisawesomeplz: Chryssie for the Pony Quilt Project Everfree 2014 charity auction! :D

Since this was my first applique anything, I decided to play it safe and keep the design fairly simple while focusing on quality. In retrospect, I could’ve added many more design elements, (particularly some kind of background), but live and learn. Despite a few flaws, she turned out much better than I expected! I thought I’d have a lot of problems. ^^

Design: ~14.4 hours with Photoshop and SophieSew.
Execution: ~12 hours with Brother PE770/SE400, proper applique scissors, cotton materials, and Coats & Clark Dual Duty thread.

UPDATE: Completed quilt sold for $20,000! :iconraritysmile2plz:

EFNW Charity Quilt by WhiteHeather Amazing Charity Auction! This is just a short post from Everfree to let all of you know how much the quilt sold for at auction:
$20,000
No, I didn't put too many zeros. We made twenty thousand dollars for the Seattle children's hospital with the quilt! Thank you everyone who participated and made it possible! I wasn't planning on doing this again next year, but after that reception I might need to!

Would you be willing to make one of these as a commission?

I most certainly would! :D I also want to make another for myself, although I'd probably use shiny polyester embroidery thread rather than the dual duty thread since it wouldn't be washed. :)

How much might it cost to commission one? I don't have the money now, but maybe in the future, to add to my growing Chrysalis collection

Well that's quite alright because I'm a little pressed myself ATM. :eager:
Probably $220 considering time, materials, tools, etc.
Out of curiosity, do you have pics of your collection? :iconpinkiesmileplz:

Yeah that's hard to find. I just bought the Chrissy figure alone, via Ebay.

So what part exactly was sophie sew and what was manual?  Just trying to figure out how you lined up stitch lines over fabric.

Oh, I think I know what you're saying now. Sorry for the confusion. Well, I just let the machine sew the fabric in place, cut around it, then let the machine finish. So nothing to line up in that regard. :)
